Please check the lost and found areas for your children’s clothing and other items such as sweatshirts, uniforms, backpacks and lunch boxes. Unclaimed items that are left over the holiday break will be donated to the Shamrock Shoppe for resale in the used clothing bins. There are two lost and found areas on campus. The first is on the lower school campus on the field level to the right of the stairs as you are going down. The second area is on the middle school campus opposite the art and game room just before the tower. If you have a lower school student it is best to check both areas as many times items left in the gym are taken to the middle school lost and found area.
Pasadena Outlook is a new local newspaper. The publisher has asked Independent Schools in Pasadena to send content publicizing events that take place on our campuses. Poly, Mayfield and Westridge have already been featured in the first two issues. Chandler recently sent pictures from the Fall production of Beauty and the Beast. We were pleased with the final layout included in a recent issue. Using information that we get from you during the enrollment process, we have a database of Chandler families who do not want their children’s photographs included in any school publication. It goes without saying that we will not send pictures to the Outlook that include children whose parents do not want them featured in school publications.
For the Beauty and the Beast spread, we sent pictures without naming the students. In the future, we would like to include the names of the students featured in the photographs. If you do not want your child named or featured in any photo that we send to the Outlook , or other local newspapers, please e-mail Sheryl MacPhee in our development office: smacphee@chandlerschool.org

Middle School Laptop Program Information
Published November 30, 2007 Announcements , Information ClosedDear Parents,
In the Spring of 2008 the school will make pre-configured laptop “bundles” available to 5th, 6th and 7th grade families for purchase through our technology vendors. These bundles will include both Windows and Apple options and will be able to be fully supported by the technology department at Chandler. They will provide the best blend of technology and support for the price.
My recommendation for current 5th graders is to wait for the bundles. Laptops perform best in their first three years. Timing your laptop purchase to coincide with the beginning of the school year means that you will get the most “bang for your buck” through 8th grade. Current 6th and 7th graders are welcome to wait for the bundles - they will provide excellent value - but do not have the same time considerations relative to their Chandler career.
For families wishing to purchase a laptop before the bundles are available we have defined a hardware and software specification that parents can use to make purchasing decisions. Laptops meeting the specification will be able to be used as part of the program. If you are considering a laptop purchase in the near future and would like the tech department to “sign off” on the machine prior to purchase please contact me.

New Kindergarten Teacher for 2008-2009
Published November 30, 2007 Announcements , Information ClosedJennifer Hewlett has been hired as our new kindergarten teacher for the 2008-2009 school year. She will start her position in August 2008. Jennifer was one of the finalists for the kindergarten position that Cara Gancedo filled prior to the start of this school year. She chose to withdraw her name from consideration in order to spend a year at home with her young daughter. Jennifer is ready to return to the classroom, and we are thrilled. Jennifer is a graduate of the University of Maryland. She has ten years of first grade and kindergarten teaching experience. In her letter of introduction Jennifer wrote, “I love kindergartners and love teaching them.” She showed those qualities in her demonstration class during the interview process. Jennifer will be visiting the Chandler campus from time to time in the second semester to learn more about the school and the program from Marita Hancock and Cara Gancedo.
